Accessibility Statement

Accessibility

Our commitment to an inclusive experience for every visitor.

Our Commitment to Accessibility

At Bro Glo, we believe that everyone - regardless of ability, disability, or the assistive technology they use - deserves full and equal access to our website and the products we offer. Accessibility is not an afterthought for us. It is a core part of how we build, maintain, and improve our online experience.

We are committed to ensuring that thebroglo.com conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA success criteria, which are recognized internationally as the standard for web accessibility. We also strive to align with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act where applicable to our digital presence.

Our goal is simple: every person who visits our site should be able to browse products, read content, complete a purchase, and access customer support without barriers.

Accessibility Features on Our Site

We have invested significant effort into building accessibility into the foundation of our website - not as a bolt-on, but as a structural part of our theme and development process. The following features are actively implemented and maintained across thebroglo.com:

Images and Alternative Text

All meaningful images across our site - including product photos, lifestyle imagery, promotional banners, and informational graphics - include descriptive alternative (alt) text. This allows screen reader users to understand the visual content on each page. Decorative images that do not convey information are properly marked with empty alt attributes or aria-hidden so they do not create unnecessary noise for assistive technology users.

Keyboard Navigation

Our entire site is navigable using a keyboard alone. All interactive elements - including links, buttons, form fields, dropdown menus, product variant selectors, and the shopping cart - can be reached and operated using the Tab, Enter, Escape, and arrow keys. We provide visible focus indicators on interactive elements so keyboard users always know where they are on the page. Modal dialogs and slide-out drawers (such as the cart drawer and mobile navigation) include proper focus trapping, ensuring keyboard focus stays within the active element until it is closed.

Semantic HTML and Page Structure

We use semantic HTML5 elements (header, nav, main, footer, section, article) and a logical heading hierarchy (H1 through H6) throughout the site. This gives assistive technologies a clear understanding of the page structure and allows screen reader users to navigate efficiently between sections. Skip navigation links are available to bypass repetitive content and jump directly to the main content area.

ARIA Markup and Dynamic Content

We use WAI-ARIA (Web Accessibility Initiative - Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes throughout our site to enhance the experience for assistive technology users. This includes aria-labels on interactive elements that lack visible text, aria-expanded attributes on collapsible sections and dropdown menus, aria-live regions that announce dynamic updates (such as cart count changes, form validation messages, and promotional notifications), and appropriate role attributes where native HTML semantics are insufficient.

Color Contrast and Visual Design

We maintain color contrast ratios that meet or exceed the WCAG 2.2 Level AA minimum requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components). Color is never used as the sole means of conveying information - all color-coded indicators are supplemented with text labels, icons, or patterns. Our site is designed to remain usable and legible for visitors with low vision or color vision deficiencies.

Forms and Error Handling

All form fields across our site - including email signup, checkout, contact forms, and product option selectors - are properly labeled using associated label elements or aria-label attributes. Required fields are clearly indicated. When form validation errors occur, they are presented in text (not color alone), associated with the relevant field, and announced to screen readers so users understand what needs to be corrected.

Motion and Animation

We respect the prefers-reduced-motion operating system setting. When a visitor has indicated they prefer reduced motion, animations, transitions, and auto-playing visual effects across our site are minimized or disabled entirely. This helps ensure our site is comfortable for visitors with vestibular disorders or motion sensitivities.

Video and Multimedia

Embedded video content on our site uses click-to-play functionality rather than autoplaying. Videos do not play audio automatically. Where video content includes spoken dialogue, we work to provide captions or transcripts. Video embeds are implemented using performance-optimized patterns that do not interfere with screen readers or keyboard navigation.

Responsive and Adaptive Design

Our site is fully responsive and functions correctly across a wide range of devices, screen sizes, and orientations. Content reflows properly when the browser is zoomed up to 200% without loss of information or functionality. Touch targets on mobile devices meet minimum size recommendations to support users with motor impairments.

Our Testing and Review Process

Accessibility is built into our development workflow, not treated as a one-time audit. Our approach includes:

Manual testing with keyboard-only navigation and screen readers (including VoiceOver on macOS/iOS and NVDA on Windows) during development of new features and pages.

Automated scanning using industry-standard accessibility evaluation tools to catch common issues during development and before deployment.

Ongoing review of existing pages and components to identify and resolve issues as accessibility standards and best practices evolve.

Alt text management using a dedicated system that tracks and maintains descriptive alternative text across all product images, collection images, and site-wide media assets.

Conformance Status

We consider thebroglo.com to be partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some portions of the content may not yet fully conform to all success criteria. Accessibility is a continuous process, and we are actively working to achieve and maintain full conformance across every page and feature.

As we add new products, features, and content, we apply the same accessibility standards to every update. If we identify an area that does not meet our standards, we prioritize remediation based on the severity and impact on users.

Third-Party Content and Integrations

Our website incorporates content and functionality provided by third-party services, including but not limited to product reviews, payment processing, analytics, and social media embeds. While we select partners who share our commitment to accessibility and encourage them to follow WCAG standards, we may have limited direct control over the accessibility of their content and interfaces.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier related to a third-party feature on our site, please let us know. We will work with the provider to seek a resolution and, where possible, offer an alternative way for you to access the same information or complete the same action.
